Mayfield High School is situated in the north valley of the Las Cruces metropolitan area. Opened in 1965, the staff and faculty numbering 212 are committed to ensuring that students of all ability levels are prepared for the challenges of life after high school.
School enrollment currently stands at 2,381 students for grades 9-12. Students with Hispanic heritage make up 59% of the student population while 41% of the students are non-Hispanic (African-American, Asian, Native American, and Anglo among others).
Mayfield is one of the largest AAAAA schools in New Mexico. Enrollment has grown steadily over the past six years.
The students, faculty, staff, and administration are proud to be Mayfield Trojans. After all, MHS has much to offer.

High
School is a comprehensive high school offering students the opportunity to explore both academic and technical objectives. Our 2 x 4 block schedule is designed to meet the needs of a truly diverse student population.
All students at Mayfield declare a focus from thirteen career clusters including Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Architecture & Construction; Arts, A/V Technology & Communication; Business Management & Administration; Health Science; Hospitality & Tourism; Human Services; Information Technology; Law, Public Safety & Security; Manufacturing; Marketing, Sales & Service; Science, Technology, Engineering & Math; Transportation, Distribution & Logistics. Students, parents, and faculty collaborate through the Career Advisement Program (CAPS) to schedule classes that will best equip students for college or the world of work.
High academic standards continue to be maintained while more school-to-work options are available.
The Advanced Placement program has experienced growth in enrollment over the past 10 years. Students may select from nine subject areas in this program. In addition, several courses are articulated with the Dona Ana Community College and New Mexico State University, which means students earn advanced placement at college.
