Chris Cook,
Principal 
Chris Cook attended Lubbock Christian University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education. He received his Masters in Educational Management and Development from New Mexico State University. His career in education includes teaching Science and coaching football, basketball, and baseball in Lewisville, Texas. In Las Cruces, he taught Science at both Picacho Middle School and Mayfield High School and coached baseball at NMSU for eight years. Mr. Cook has served as both Assistant Principal and Principal at Vista Middle School before becoming Director of Secondary Education for the Las Cruces Public School District. As Principal of Mayfield, Mr. Cook supervises academic programs, evaluates teachers, administration, and staff, hires new teachers and support staff, manages the school's budget and purchasing, and works directly with seniors and other students as needed. Mr. Cook has been married for twenty-six years and has two sons who are both graduates of MHS. His older son is an Airman in the U.S. Navy and the younger son is a student at NMSU.

Jeff Brilliant,
Assistant Principal
Rosalie Gallegos,
Assistant Principal

Ms. Gallegos is a graduate of New Mexico State University. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, an endorsement in Special Education, and a Masters in Educational Management and Development. Ms. Gallegos came to Mayfield in 2002. She has taught for the Las Cruces Public School District at both the elementary and high school level, has served as coordinator for at risk programs, and as director of instruction for alternative programs. She has been Co-chairman for the City of Las Cruces Gang Task Force and a member of the Juvenile Justice Commutates and Organizations. At MHS, Ms. Gallegos oversees the Special Education Department, 504 Compliance and Child Study Teams, Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Due Process. She works with students whose last name begins with the letters A to E.

Richard Melendez,
Assistant Principal
Richard Melendez came to New Mexico in 1964 to play football for NMSU. He received his Bachelors of Science in Education and went on to teach Science, History, Physical Education, and Government. While teaching at Las Cruces High School, he coached both football and track. After receiving his Masters in Education Administration, also from NMSU, he joined Onate High School in 1988 as an Assistant Principal. After retiring from LCPS, Mr. Melendez worked in El Paso as an Assistant Principal at Desert View Middle School and later as Athletic Director for the Ysleta School District. Following retirement from the Texas Schools, Mr. Melendez joined Mayfield High School in January 2004 as an Assistant Principal in charge of Athletics, teacher evaluations, and students whose last name begins with F-K, X, Y, or Z.
Carlos Viramontes,
Assistant Principal
Mr. Viramontes came to Mayfield in 2004 with a background of 30 years in education. Past experience includes nine years with Deming High School where he taught Art, was the Athletic and Activity Director, and later, Principal. He also served as Principal at Smith Elementary for two years and then eight years as Superintendent for the Deming Public Schools. He followed up with one-half year was at Chaparral Middle School and two years at Vista Middle School as a both counselor and administrator. Here at Mayfield, Mr. Viramontes is responsible for the Social Studies, Language Arts, and the Bilingual Departments, as well as, students whose last names begin with L to Q.
